We’ve Got Mail –an #AuthorLife appreciation for the wonderful student letters from the past school year + busy #Educators who go the extra mile EVERY DAY.

June 23, 2026

With the last Author Visit for the school year in the books, I finally have a moment to share some of the student letters I’ve received. I can tell you right now, I’m saving this one for life:

“there’s no Author like you in the world.”

Wow.

Dear Tremendously-Busy-Teachers & Librarians Endless thanks for inviting me to your school. And thank you for taking the time after my author visit to sit down with your students and not only talk about the day, but ask them about their take-aways. I know these lovely letters and reviews do not write themselves. I KNOW you probably didn’t have the time to squeeze this activity into your day, but oh boy, lucky for me, you did.

Thank you, dear Educators and Parents for going the extra mile.

Thank you, Teachers & Librarians –and also PTO members & Administrators — who know the value of an Author Visit –whether it’s in person or Zoom/Google chat– and thank you for somehow finding a way to make such a fun event happen at your school. Funds are tight. As a former teacher, boy do I get that. Many ask if an Author Visit is worth it. I understand that too. My answer…

Look at these letters:

“You inspired me to keep writeing.”

Author Visits are in-person Author Studies. When I was in elementary school, I had no idea the people who wrote the books we read were REAL. I’m so thankful for the letters these books got this year:

Friendly Letters

Many teachers use author visits as a way to teach letter writing. (Remember writing actual letters, friends?) Bonus: Here are some FREE google slides and extensions for my books, including writing friendly letters.

And some students tell me they are going to write their own books:

“You inspired me, and now I am making a book for my littel sister.(And it’s not because I don’t whant her to atack me any more!)”

I wish I could show you all of these.

These are some of the many take-aways from Author Visits this year. I am ever so grateful for the teachers, librarians, PTO, and administrators who made these happen.

THANK YOU!

Thank you also to Teen Literacy Ambassador and Influencer, Ethan Minton (ETRAIN) for sharing Dear Earth…From Your Friends in Room Five with new Earth Heroes in not only the Sacramento area, but International students in ITALY!

To quote my new friend, Jennesa, this author life is the best [adventure….] “in the hold wide world.”

Happy Summer Reading, friends.
