Easter is early this year and we’ve put together a list of books for those baskets.
Some are fun new releases and others family favorites. Check them out:
Better yet, read one a day for Spring Break!
- LLAMA LLAMA EASTER EGG by Anna Dewdney (Board Book / Viking )
An Anna Dewdney classic: The Easter Bunny brings lots of treats for Llama Llama: jelly beans, colorful eggs, and a fluffy surprise!
2. A SEED GROWS by Antoinette Portis (PB / Neal Porter Books)
In this nonfiction picture book, young readers will better understand how a seed becomes a sunflower, as they peek beneath the soil and wait patiently to see winding roots grow, a stalk inch out of the earth, and new seeds emerge among blooming petals.
3. & 4. DUCK AND MOOSE –a new early graphic reader “must-have series” (SLJ) from Kirk Reedstrom. (Disney Hyperion)
Meet quiet-loving Moose, whose life is turned upside down by free-wheeling Duck. The two will need to put their differences aside if they’re ever going to be neighbors…or friends!
5. JUST FLOWERS just released from Erin Dealey & Illustrator Kate Cosgrove (PB / Sleeping Bear)
A budding Botanist tries to make friends with the new grumpy neighbor who only cares about his roses. Every time a different flower blooms in his garden, Izzy can identify it, but the neighbor says: “Take it away!” So Izzy does. Can Izzy finally get that neighbor to accept the bloom of friendship?

Happy #BookBirthday JUST FLOWERS!
6. PETE THE CAT: Big Easter Adventure by Kimberly & James Dean (PB/ HarperFestival)
Another classic: Pete the Cat wakes up Easter morning, ready to check out his basket of goodies and discovers the Easter Bunny needs a little extra help.
7. PETER EASTER FROG by Erin Dealey & Illustrator G. Brian Karas (PB/ Caitlyn Dlouhy Books/ Atheneum)
Hilarious Easter fun –and possibly a song– about Peter Easter Frog and a group of basket-bearing, egg-delivering animal friends, who decide to “help” the Easter Bunny. Uh-Oh.
